From corporate to care – Warren’s career journey!
Warren is a Support Worker at Carville Road, one of our specialist brain injury rehabilitation services in Wallsend. Warren has been with Voyage Care for two years and has discovered a new passion for care. From the very first moment meeting them, Warren has loved helping the people we support transform their lives!
Prior to joining Voyage Care, Warren worked as a People Manager for 10 years. Feeling unfulfilled, he knew it was time to take a leap of faith and swap his corporate career for something that would ignite his passion for life again.
Doing his bit for the community meant a lot to Warren. That’s when a lightbulb moment happened, and he knew a career in care was just what he wanted. Starting this new career journey was the best thing Warren did and he’s never looked back.
Life before Voyage Care
Before Warren joined Voyage Care, he had past experience in the care sector, working as a Support Worker for people living with dementia. This was valuable experience for Warren and paved the way for supporting people with brain injuries.
Warren loves how diverse being a Support Worker is, no day is the same and you are always faced with new opportunities helping the people we support with a range of activities. From personal care to promoting their independence, he’s with them every step of the way on their journey to living a fulfilled life.
Getting out in the community
Warren provides quality care to the people we support and enjoys getting them out into the community to develop their independence and living skills.
His ultimate goal is to keep the people we support active and in touch with community-based experiences – such as volunteering. He is a people person and is dedicated to helping the people we support live the life they choose!
Why I love working for Voyage Care
Warren thinks Voyage Care is a great place to work! Not only do our benefits and rewards fits his lifestyle, he enjoys seeing the people we support grow and live fulfilled lives – that’s the most rewarding part for him.
He loves nothing more than seeing the people we support out and about in the community enjoying activities such as shopping, visiting the cinema or local parks and museums! 52 Carville Road is fortunately located near the coast, so Warren and the team often accompany the people we support to the beach to enjoy fish, chips, and ice cream when the weather is nice.
Warren said, “My favourite thing about the people we support is that they all have such different personalities, but when you bring them all together it’s truly magic. No two days are the same… and that’s why I love my job.”
He also loves the culture at Voyage Care – it’s colourful, offers lots of variety, and is very diverse, it leaves him brimming with positivity! He said, “Voyage Care is full of so many amazing people with a wealth of experience, and we they all come together collectively to form one big family!”
“The people we support really make the job worthwhile, and my team at 52 Carville Road pull together as one to get through the good and bad days.”
