Emily wins an award for going above and beyond!
Emily Webb was nominated for an award by the parents of a person we support. They nominated her to show their appreciation for all her hard work in the last year. This is Emily’s story.
Emily Webb, a field support supervisor in Wiltshire, has won the Care Home Worker of the Year award! Awarded by the Swindon and Wiltshire Health & Social Care Awards 2021. This achievement recognises Emily’s incredible effort over the past year.
One day, Emily got a call from the parents of a person we support. They said that they’d like to put her name forward for an award. This was to show their appreciation for her going above and beyond. She was surprised but also grateful, “The family nominated me for the Care Home category. I felt very grateful for the nomination. The best part was reading what the parents had to say and their reason for the nomination in the Gazette & Herald article.”
Emily added, “For the parents to go out of their way and put my name forward is so lovely. I felt like I was just doing my job and all I kept thinking about is the person we support and making sure they felt safe. The nomination made me feel valued.”
Emily joined Voyage Care in 2019. She initially applied for a care coordinator role. During the interview she demonstrated that she had the experience for a field support supervisor. She was recruited as a field support supervisor and it was just what she was looking for. She gushed over the support she’s had since working with us, “I have a wonderful manager who’s available to support me at any time. I feel privileged that I work with inspirational colleagues and work for such a supportive company, Voyage Care.”
Emily told us about her training and qualifications, “I studied Health and Social Care in college and then found work where I completed the rest of my qualifications for level two and three. Level two is the diploma in Health and Social Care for adults and the level three diploma is an advanced level for Health and Social Care for adults which also has a module on children and young people. With Voyage Care, I’ve just completed my level five, Health and Social Care Management, and will be looking to complete the level seven Health and Social Care Management advanced course after the summer.”
Emily got a lovely bunch of flowers from the operations manager and managing director of the South West. She commented, “My manager gave me some great feedback and that’s someone I speak to daily, but to get recognition from senior managers was such a wonderful feeling.”
