Rachel’s journey of progression

In November 2017, Rachel joined us as a Deputy Manager for one of our supported living services in Derbyshire. Rachel arrived with a wealth of experience, previously working as a Team Leader for another provider. She was excited to begin the next chapter of her career and make a difference in the lives of the people we support.

Shortly after joining, Rachel faced some unexpected health challenges. However, with the support of her colleagues and managers, she was able to take the time she needed before returning to work with renewed motivation and determination.

Progression and improvements

Rachel quickly settled into her role and demonstrated a natural ability to lead, inspire others, and drive positive change. Her dedication and hard work were recognised, resulting in a promotion to Service Manager after just six months.

In her new role, she quickly got to work, implementing changes that would grow her team and benefit the service.

Rachel’s success led to a new opportunity to manage a second service through dual registration. She relocated to Burton to lead Ashby Road, a home with significant potential for growth and development.

Driven by her passion for helping people live fulfilling lives, Rachel set out to transform the service. Over the following years, she oversaw two major refurbishments, mentored a fantastic Deputy Manager, and successfully filled all her voids within the home!

The achievements didn’t stop there; Rachel helped the people we support achieve some amazing milestones. This included supporting them to get volunteering jobs, participate in meaningful activities, and lead fulfilling lives. Rachel and her team enabled individuals to grow in confidence, gain independence, and achieve their goals.

Looking back on her time at Ashby Road, Rachel is most proud of the positive difference she made to people’s quality of life.

Taking on new challenges

After two incredible years, Rachel was ready to broaden her impact even further. In July 2022, she stepped into the role of Regional Support Manager.

Drawing on her experience of service improvement and team development, Rachel supported multiple services across the region, helping them strengthen quality and achieve positive outcomes.

During her time as Regional Support Manager, she played a key role in the opening a new transition home, Weaver House. Rachel also supported some of our supported living homes with improvement plans, alongside a range of other projects across the region.

Rachel’s achievements did not go unnoticed. She was scouted for a temporary role as Operations Manager in the West Midlands. Here she oversaw a number of our residential and supported living homes in the area. As time went on, the role became permanent and Rachel is still in post today.

Rachel is a valuable member of the Voyage Care family and continues to support and improve our specialist homes. In just a few years, she has progress from Deputy Manager to Operations Manager, reflecting her commitment, expertise, and dedication to delivering high-quality support. Her journey is a great example of personal and professional growth, and the difference strong leadership can make in helping services thrive and achieve positive outcomes for the people we support.

A supported career

Rachel has worked incredibly hard since joining Voyage Care, but she is the first to acknowledge the support she has received along the way. Her managers and colleagues believed in her and saw her potential, even if she didn’t.

Throughout her career, Rachel has been given the support, trust, and development opportunities needed to continue progressing. Each new role has helped her build new skills, broaden her experience, and increase the positive impact she has on the lives of others.

Today, Rachel continues to improve quality of life for the people we support. Seeing them gain independence and achieve amazing outcomes is so rewarding for Rachel.

With the right support behind her, she has blossomed at Voyage Care and built a career she’s truly proud of. Her story demonstrates what’s possible when ambition is matched with opportunity, encouragement, and a commitment to making a difference.
