Stevie’s journey to Operations Manager
Stevie joined Voyage Care in 2015 as a Registered Manager at one of our Brain Injury Rehabilitation homes. When she joined us, Stevie quickly discovered her own values and beliefs aligned with those at Voyage Care. She was motivated by what she could achieve with us, with her main goal being supporting people to live fulfilling and meaningful lives.
Opportunities for development
Stevie’s ambition has taken her from Registered Manager to Operations Manager, a role she’s been in for the past five years. Her four-year stint as a Registered Manager gave her the confidence to push outside of her comfort zone, allowing her to develop key skills such as adaptability and agile working. Along the way, Voyage Care has supported Stevie’s professional development, offering her opportunities to grow both personally and professionally.
As part of her career progression, Voyage Care funded Stevie to complete a Chartered Manager Degree while she continued to work full time. Balancing studying with a busy job wasn’t always easy, but with dedicated study time, flexibility, and support from her manager, Stevie successfully graduated. This experience has given her the confidence she needed to pursue opportunities she never thought were possible.
Growing as an Operations Manager
Stevie’s progression has been built on hard work and embracing new opportunities. After several years in service management roles, she had broadened her experience, developing the adaptability and leadership skills that enabled her to transition to an Operations Manager.
Today, Stevie oversees a number of our residential and supported living homes, manages operational budgets, analyses performance data, and supports her teams to deliver high-quality, person-centred care. Although no two days are the same, Stevie is passionate about meeting new people and learning from both her colleagues and the people we support.
Since starting her career in social care at the age of 18, Stevie’s passion for the sector has grown stronger. She understands the challenges her team faces every day but believes the reward of supporting people to gain greater independence makes it all worthwhile. For Stevie, nothing beats seeing the joy on the faces of the people we support, knowing she’s played a part in their happiness and achievements.
Alongside achieving her Chartered Manager Degree, Stevie is also proud of what her teams have accomplished. What motivates her is seeing the services deliver outstanding care and her colleagues getting recognition for their dedication and hard work. Particularly special moments for Stevie have been seeing her teams win at the Voyage Excellence Awards – our annual companywide awards ceremony. Her teams have won Care Home of the Year in 2023, We are Family Values in 2024, and Specialist Service of the Year in 2025. This reflects the amazing work they do and celebrates the difference they make to people’s lives.
A future with Voyage Care
Stevie plans to continue developing her leadership skills and growing whilst at Voyage Care. She is grateful for all the opportunities she’s been given and believes her career has only just started.
