Voyage Care currently have a rare and exciting opportunity available and are seeking a Team Leader for a wonderful setting in Keighley.

The Discovery Centre has a relaxing atmosphere and is set in the beautiful West Yorkshire countryside. We help the people we support develop new skills and regularly take trips to enjoy the great outdoors.

We design and deliver activity sessions for the people we support, fulfilling their potential to promote achievement and wellbeing. We provide a safe, friendly and stimulating environment and the activities we organise include;

• Farming
• Dry stone walling
• Animal care
• Horticulture
• Arts and crafts
• Computer skills
• Woodwork
• Cooking
• Engineering
 

The individual must have a passion for animal welfare as you will be required to manage a small flock of sheep and goats at the centre. It would be ideal if the candidate had some a working knowledge of horses and some basic countryside skills including fencing and weed control etc. You must promote good agricultural practice and have a passion for the principals of care farming.

The team leader would be expected to plan and deliver activity sessions for our attendees in addition to managing a small staff team to deliver high quality support. Experience with teaching or supporting people with learning disabilities would be highly advantageous for this role.

Reporting to the Manager, you will work with the people within our service in order to meet their needs.  Supporting the individuals to make use of community resources to enable community participation and promote social inclusion.

 

You should be well educated, with excellent verbal communication skills, with an outgoing personality and the ability to prioritise your own workload.  Experience of working in a similar role would be an advantage, you will need to have had previous experience and knowledge of rota planning, supervison of staff and have strong administration skills
