Voyage Care is seeking exceptional Female Support Workers*, who will be providing support to a younger individual with; atypical autism, learning disability, communication and sensory needs, Epilepsy and some behaviours that challenge. Support will be provided at the family home in the village of Hazelbury Bryan and within the local community.

Successful Female Support Workers will understand the importance of working alongside family members to ensure that the Person We Support leads the most independent life possible. They will be experienced in following support plans to ensure the best outcomes for the individual.Female

Support Workers will assist the Person we Support in all aspects of their life that they need assistance. Support may include (but not be limited to):

  • Personal care
  • Community access and social events
  • Undertaking hobbies and other interests, including: swimming, trampolining, sensory room
  • Mealtime assistance
  • Medication Administration (including buccal midazolam when required)
  • Assisting with mobility
  • Managing complex behaviour

Previous experience in a health or social care setting working with individuals with learning disabilities and Epilepsy and atypical autism is desirable but not essential. It would also be advantageous if Female Support Workers had prior experience with buccal midazolam. Voyage Care provide full training to all Female Support Workers.

Due to their needs the Person We Support, who is younger, will require support from Female Support Workers they perceive as a more senior figure within their life.

The available role is for a full time Female Support Worker. All Female Support Workers will be required a mixture of early, late and long day shifts.

Due to the location of this role all Female Support Workers will need to be drivers with access to a vehicle.

Please note that the role may include weekend work, shifts on public holidays and some sleep in shifts.Voyage Care ask that all Female Support Workers:

  • Work within the company’s ethos of providing person centred care
  • Are compassionate and understanding
  • Are reliable and conscientious
  • Have a good understanding or written and spoken English and basic Mathematics
  • Are flexible in the shifts they can work
  • Currently hold or are prepared to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check

Although primarily working with one individual, successful Female Support Workers may be required to cover annual leave and sickness at other local services.
