Focused Healthcare Specialist Children’s Complex Healthcare providers are a team of Registered Clinical Nurse Managers, Clinical Educators, Paediatric Nurses and Healthcare Assistants that provide health care support to children and young people within their own home and educational settings.

You willl be motivated and innovative, with strong leadership, management and communication skills, to ensure that the care delivered is safe, effective and reliable.

Working with children and young people with a variety of clinical needs, in various community settings and educate safely and appropriately to deem competent Nurses and Healthcare Workers.

You will meet the needs of children and young people with complex healthcare needs, working collaboratively with all multidisciplinary professionals through the delivery of the education strategy.

The Clinical Educator will assist, as part of the wider team and with other professional wider organisations in the development and delivery of our complex care services and will support and empower nurses to apply care within their responsibilities of the Nursing Midwifery Council code of conduct

 

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • To train and deem competent staff on clinical delegated tasks, supporting and educating none registered healthcare professionals;
  • To provide back up and “Buddy” support for clinical team colleagues;
  • To maintain accurate and contemporaneous records in line with local policies and NMC guidelines;
  • To develop training plans for the safe delivery of care for each child/young person. Ensure annual competency checks for none registered healthcare professionals.  Deliver standardised training programme to all staff members, maintaining they are individualised to the child/young persons need;
  • Meet training needs of care staff and direct, coordinate and supervise the development of their competency and professional skills through teaching, mentoring and support, once identified;
  • To undertake educational clinical audits and be involved in developing and leading service improvements;
  • To assist Clinical Nurse Managers to ensure Clinical Supervision and Appraisals occur on a regular basis to designated healthcare worker;
  • To confirm to NMC requirements by keeping up to date with current legislation and developments in nursing and to demonstrate evidence of such;
  • To ensure nursing practice is in accordance with the NMC Codes of Conduct;
  • Ensure training needs and agreement of when to carry out competencies occur during reasonable working hours, in line with child/ young person’s needs and family preference;
  • Maintaining a flexible working pattern to meet the education needs of the care package for the child/ young person, in partnership with the family;
  • To participate in the induction of new employees;
  • To participate in clinical governance and risk management procedures in line with policies and guidelines;
  • To be aware of the Focused Healthcare Complaints Policy, and be able to take appropriate action for referral and participate in investigations as per process;
  • Work collaboratively with Clinical Nurse Managers;
  • Be effective with own time management and colleague’s time management, by having a responsive approach when completing visits. This may include supporting the Clinical Nurse Manager’s role whilst completing visits to families homes;
  • Collaboratively work with Bookings Team to identify healthcare workers for new packages;
  • Clinically accountable and responsible to ensure all reasonable measures are in place to deliver safe and effective evidence based care to all children and young people, in collaboration with colleagues, including on call and Bookings Team to the best of yours and Focused HealthCare capabilities.

 

You may be required to undertake other duties commensurate to your role and/or working hours, as may reasonably be required of you at any other sites or premises or locations in the community, and within the homes of people we support.  The Company may reasonably require you, on an occasional or frequent basis, to meet the changing needs of service provision.
